Our community development strategies are constantly evolving at ASWCO. Programs begin and end in each different community throughout our six regions.
Each regional coordinator is collecting data on each community in their region, the programs that communities offer, in order to determine the best way to service each community within their region. It is through research like this that ASWCO’s “Power to Play” program was delivered.
Through the “Power to Play” program, ASWCO was able to award $40,000 spread to 27 different communities in Ontario, to help offset costs, or fund programs and infrastructure designed to help First Nations youth participate in sport at a grassroots level.
Another Power To Play is planned for the fall of 2015 so make sure to keep checking our ASWCO site regularly for calls to submit an application for your program or community!
ASWCO continues working on ways to engage youth, families and adults and facilitate healthy lifestyles in aboriginal communities.
